MIAM Direct lets you complete your Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) online with an accredited family mediator, at a time to suit you. Many clients are seen the same day, and where you need a court certificate we issue it within 24 hours, or the same day in urgent cases.

What Is a MIAM, and Do You Need One?

A MIAM is your first meeting with a family mediator. In England and Wales, if you intend to apply to the family court about children or finances, you must attend a MIAM first, unless a valid exemption applies. It is a required step whether or not you go on to mediate.

Since the Family Procedure Rules changed on 29 April 2024, the courts place even greater emphasis on resolving disputes away from court. Your mediator must now explain all forms of non-court dispute resolution, and a party who unreasonably refuses to attend a MIAM or consider these options may face costs consequences. How It Works

1. Book. Complete our short online form or call us, and we will arrange your appointment, often the same day.
2. Attend your MIAM. Held online or by phone, individually and in confidence, usually within an hour.
3. Move forward. If you wish to mediate, we invite the other party. If you need a court certificate, we issue it within 24 hours, or the same day in urgent cases.

Online Family Mediation Too

If both parties wish to mediate after their MIAMs, we conduct the sessions online as well. Family mediation is usually quicker, less stressful and far cheaper than going to court, and it keeps the decisions about your family in your hands rather than a judge’s. Our Fees

• MIAM: £130 (Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm). £150 on Saturday (9.00am to 1.00pm).
• Mediation sessions: £130 per person, per hour. Sessions usually run for one and a half hours.
• Court certificate: issued within 24 hours of your MIAM, same day if urgent.

We accept credit and debit card payments. Appointments outside normal business hours may attract an enhanced fee.
